Rose Workshop at Craig May's in Pine, Colorado
To make roses for the Iron Rose for Norway Project. Tobbe and Tone, two blacksmiths from Oslo are building a sculpture of forged roses made by smiths from all over the world - to honor the vicms of the unimaginable violence in Oslo July 22, 2011 and to let the love grow from hammers and fire. If you are coming please let Craig know so he can plan and so we have enough rose parts cut.

Anyone coming to the Rose workshop the 28th of this month should bring as much of this tooling as you have:
Cross peen hammer, Smithing magician with butcher dies (if they have one) or similar guillotine tool, Gunter rose vise (if they have one),
tongs to hold 3/8" round, small needle nose , round nose or flat nose pliers, 6" round file, safety glasses for gas welding or welding hood (for making the thorns), ball pein hammer(s) and a small cup or bowl die.

Sign in at 8:30 a.m. with demonstrations till 4:30 p.m.
Demonstrators: Butch Lee, Andy Morris, Jody Bliss, Don Hanson.
Demonstrations will include working with angle iron, expanding metal with compressed air and sinking metal into wood.
Cost: $25 RMS members, $30 visitors.
Lunch: We will chip in and order pizza for those interested or there are local restaurants or bring your own.

This demo will be inside, out of the unpredictable Colorado weather.
Sign in time 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Demonstration: 9:00 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.
Demonstration: Axe head forging - wrapped eye and punched eye styles demonstrated. If time allows we will grind, heat treat and fit the handles.
Cost: $25 RMS members, $30 visitors.
Lunch: bring a sack lunch or eat at one of two local establishments.
